01 / MOTHER & DAUGHTER

Mom began as an employee at a bunsik shop in Yaksu-dong in 2012. After about ten years, she prepared to open her own place, with Gayoung by her side. Together they worked on the space, name, logo and menu board, opening in Suyu on February 12, 2022.

While preparing to open, Gayoung drew the logo by hand from a photograph of her mother. The shop carries the daughter’s name and welcomes you with the mother’s face. Both are part of the place they made together.
We listen to Mom’s cooking know-how and write it down. We refine dishes and guidance from guest feedback, and try what we learn at Baemin Academy in the shop. Gayoungene keeps changing, with mother and daughter working together.
We prepare gimbap fillings and ingredients for our fried dishes by hand. Mom makes the key sauces; Gayoung shares the cooking, orders, service and cleanup. Two people working together behind a familiar plate of Korean comfort food. This is everyday life at Gayoungene.

Expanded next door that summer to give guests more room to enjoy a meal.
Gayoung planned the name and logo, then completed the trademark registration herself. We continue to care for the identity and story of our shop.
